If it's to be played, it's got to be kept up. 100% original is really only good for museum display. Looks like some replacements here and there. You look to have all the blue molded caps. Maybe it has been returned back (close) to stock.?ĭoes the owner you bought from have any background info? What did you pay? I wouldn't necessarily give up. The twin used the same chassis with all 4 P tubes and different face plates, etc. Fender made all the bigger amps with 4 power tube locations and just used only 2 for the 40w amps. The PT hole looks like it was enlarged maybe? The 2 extra power tube holes have been opened. I wonder if it had a bigger power transformer at one point. saw an extra resistor and noticed the changed value on the mid resistor (kept that). I shut it down, opened it up and looked it over with the schematic and layout in hand. I noticed the trem channel controls weren't doing anything. Not sure why that was done, but i found it one day when I was playing with the channels jumped. I think it's on my trem channel, it has a 10k mid resistor vs the original 6.8k value.Īnother wierd think I found was an added resistor from the wiper of the bass control to ground (on the trem channel). Now that I think of it, a prior owner had also changed one of the mid resistors. The 2 channels have different coupling caps, so they have slightly different voices. I'll probably also make a 2x10 cab (tremolux style) also and have some speaker options.Įdit: I also modded it to be able to disconnect the trem on thst channel. I mounted it in a 2x10 combo cabinet, but i have some WGS 12" speakers and plan on building a 2x12 cab and putting it back in its original configuration. Anyway, something to watch out for.īandmasters seem to catch a lot of flack (non- reverb, solid state rectifier, etc.) But I really like mine. Never had any problems and techs have not pointed out / noticed any wiring issues. Come to think of it I've only ever assumed that the 4 ohm tap is wired to the main speaker jack. You need to check because if it's modified like mine, you can't use the extension speaker jack as a extension. It's a multi tap output tranny, and there us a 3rd wire from the secondary that is unused and capped with a wire nut.

I didn't notice right away, but eventually did, that I seems to be wired for 2 different impedances. One thing to look for if it's a replacement OT is look at your speaker jack wiring. Its a schumacher tranny and the codes are a fender part number from what I can tell, but nothing tying it directly to a bassman. I can't 100% confirm it's from a bassman, but it's bigger for sure. I noticed on one channel the bypass caps were changed to a slightly different value which I think was done to up the gain a little. Mine has some replacement resistors and caps (filter caps for sure.).
